How does a website come together? The build, start to finish

Dan• September 9, 2026• 3 min read

Most people never see how a website gets built. You approve something, you wait, and one day it is live. This is what happens in between, step by step, on a custom HTML contractor build.

Step 1: you see a demo before anything else

Before you pay a dollar, we build a live demo of your actual site: your business, your services, your city, your name on it. We stage it and send you the link, usually within 3 business days. You open it on your phone. If it is not right, you owe nothing and we are done.

That order matters. You are deciding based on the real thing, not a sales pitch and a portfolio.

The customer promise is 21 days from payment to live. The internal schedule can shift, but that number does not. The work is front-loaded so that the parts that need your input happen early, and the parts that need our time happen while you get back to running your business.

Step 2: the production package

Once the build is paid, we assemble everything the site needs before a page is written: your services, the cities you serve, the page structure, the copy, the SEO keywords, the metadata, the calls to action, your images, and your logo and header requirements. This is the blueprint. It is also where we catch the gaps, such as a service you offer that is not on your old site, or a city you cover that nobody ever listed.

Step 3: DNS and the domain

You handle DNS, or we walk you through it. This is the step that points your domain name at the new site. Your domain stays registered in your name, on your account. If we ever part ways, you take the site and go.

Step 4 through 6: the 21-day build

Every page is custom HTML with no content system underneath it, Local SEO Schema Markup so search engines can confirm what your business is and where it works, compressed images served from your own hosting, and a contact form tested before you ever see it. A form nobody tested is just decoration.

Step 7: quality assurance

Before delivery, we go through the whole site the way a customer would and the way a search engine would. Every link, every form submission, every page at phone width, tablet width, and desktop. We check the PageSpeed score on mobile and confirm it clears 90. We confirm the schema validates. We confirm the site is set to be indexed by Google, not left on a staging setting.

Step 8: go-live and the Care Plan

The site goes live on your real domain. We submit the sitemap to Google, Bing, and Yandex the same day, set up Search Console, and confirm every page is returning cleanly and is indexable.

From there the site is on the Care Plan: $110 every 90 days, first 90 days included in the build. That covers hosting, monitoring, backups, contact-form lead management, remote support, and ongoing upkeep. The build is the start of the relationship, not the end of it.
